Kim Hendrix (left), host of Newsmakers and anchor on WSFA 12 in Montgomery, interviewed Faye Blue and Charlie Trotman, both corneal transplant recipients, during Eye Donor Month in March. Trotman described his blurred vision before the transplant as looking through out of focus binoculars. Blue talked about how losing her sight felt like losing her independence, especially when she could no longer drive due to her vision problems. Both recipients expressed gratitude to their donors and encouraged others to donate. Joseph Beckham, director of Education and Healthcare Relations, also talked with Hendrix about the positive outcomes associated with eye donation and how the public could become donors.
