The impact and need for eye donation across Alabama was seen and heard far and wide in March during National Eye Donor Month.
Alabama Eye Bank representatives were interviewed on major television stations across the state about the incomparable benefits of the giving the Gift of Sight. Additionally, feature stories and news releases appeared in Alabama newspapers and on PSAs on radio stations.
The Alabama Eye Bank (AEB), in cooperation with the Eye Bank Association of
America (EBAA), celebrates March each year to help raise awareness of the need for eye donation. Eye donations are used for sight-restoring cornea transplants, medical education and research. AEB is the state’s only eye bank and is currently ranked sixth in the world in providing corneal transplant tissue.
